Time to be still

To seldom, loving God do we sit in silence,
taking the time just to breathe in
the beauty we can see all around us
and know in our hearts
the beauty of your very being with us.

To seldom, loving God, do we rest in stillness,
taking the time to listen for your loving voice
speaking words of challenge and comfort,
peace and change, hope and healing.

Too seldom, loving God, do we wait in patience,
taking the time to sense your spirit:
soothing and stirring, guiding and chiding,
leading and enlightening.

So now we do, loving God

We take some time to be still in your presence,
to be silent for a short while,
to be patient to listen and prepared to hear
and to sing in our hearts of our love for you
